Anyone else addicted to their PC?
I have kind of realised that I’m addicted to my PC and am spending way too much time on it rather than getting out doing stuff.
I like to email people, go on different forums, coming on here, playing games like bridge, Yahtzee, championship manager, play online poker, place bets, listen to music, etc. I do enjoy it, but when I think about it I think what a waste of time and is a bit pointless.
But for instance on a work night everyone goes home and spends an evening in, what else is there to do on an evening other than watching tv, cook a nice meal, maybe read, go on the computer, do some house work, etc?
I know I am addicted to my PC but like on an evening, what else is there to do? (I live by myself) I could say ‘Right I am not going on my PC tonight’ but then its not like I have any offers to do anything with people. All my friends are married, some have family, so they’re not interested in socialising on an evening after work. I don’t want to go the gym or go for a walk or go to the local pub for a drink by myself on an evening. So it seems like I am addicted to my PC as I don’t have a lot else to do.
Anyone relate to this? Any ideas how to change?

Looks like you need to get more social. Hang out with friends, start reading, or learn to play a new instrument. There are a ton of other things to do.

Yea ME!! I’m single, don’t even have Cable T.V. Why?… I’ll tell you why… because i have a beautiful Laptop computer…. i don’t have time to watch T.V…. (which i can do on my Laptop anyway!!… And my T.V. doesn’t have the beautiful picture my laptop has!!.. yes.. I’m also addicted to my computer!!! besides, i pay most of my bills with it, (can’t do that with T.V.) My computer isn’t a luxury, it is a necessity!!

I’m the same. Except right now I don’t have a job yet so spend even more of my time on the pc. Day and night. Personally i dont find it "wrong" because i enjoy it. When i think of something better to do, then I’ll do it, but until then, computers are the best invention yet. =)

I do a little bit in the garden during my rest breaks from the PC. I also go for a walk when I am able but usually I am doing something on the computer. When I get "sick": of it, I have a few old computers I try to fix. I have a huge DVD movie collection so I’ll watch a movie or two.
On my PC I like to play Spider Solitaire, Age of Empires (1) Rise of Rome Expansion Pack – the best and easiest game to play, even on XP. And recently, The Answers Forum.

I am basically aelf-taught.
If you are constantly on the PC, I suggest you do something a little more worthwhile.
Examples
Set up your own web site
Earn money from the web,
Learn a new progran like Macromedia Flash or DVD movie editing or even making your own movie you can put on youtube.
Graphic Designing is also good.
Stop gambling unless you are winning, if winning send me money…

LOL I’m addicted too! But sometimes I wonder what other technology deprived cultures do for fun? Like those tribes in the amazon rainforest, or the amish? When I think of them, well I feel downright spoiled being able to hope onto the trusty laptop and do "digital activities". But like you I also think it’s a waste of time. I mean all this info only exsists as 1’s and 0’s right?-it’s not physical, I can’t touch, smell, or taste it. But with friends busy with their own lives and as long as I’m not hurting myself or others, I guess I’ll stay addicted a bit longer.
