Poker players, prefer real world or online poker?
Me personnally I have only played one real world tourny which was a $100 buy in. other than that it is the 5 10 dollar limit tables which are the only limits t my casino has, which is hard to play as normally 50% of the table plays every pot. Also what are the most common tells you find for amateur players, online and real world
Your question has a few aspects to it so my response is a bit lengty. In general, I prefer live games because I have more confidence in them being fair. I once sat at a table in Atlantic City and some young kid sitting next to me explained how he and a few of his tech school friends frequently go into the same online room and play on their respective laptops. As a result, they would comprise four of the six players at a table. This just seems too easy to me so I try to avoid this.
Another problem with playing online is that I am 99.99% certain that it is now illegal for Americans. If the feds ever felt like enforcing the law like they did with the Napster issues, players could have problems.
As for your other issues, I would discourage you from comparing limit hold ‘em to no-limit. I started out playing limit and it can be profitable but it’s a different game altogether. Actually, the fact that so many people call is a good thing in the long run. The problem is, with such small betting, it’s almost impossible to consistently overcome the rake. A live limit cash game and online no-limit cash games are apples and oranges.
As for tells, I’m a big believer in observing betting patterns rather than physical tells. I think that the information you take from those obervations is more reliable, which is why so many internet players have been able to make the move to live games. Those players don’t rely on less reliable things like a jittery finger or a sigh.
